copy of Moroccan Azilal rug 55x103 cm
Moroccan Azilal rug, new.
The Moroccan Azilal rugs are thick, soft and delicious, woven and tied from off-white wool and with colorful Berber symbols and abstract characters. The Azilal rugs are made by the Berber women in the Azilal province in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region of the High Atlas where the thick Azilal rugs have traditionally helped to keep warm during the cold winter months.
The Azilal rugs are still woven by the women of the Berber tribes and we find the colorful and original rugs on our travels to the villages in the Atlas Mountains.
Our Azilal rugs are new unless otherwise stated.
The Berbers are the indigenous people of North Africa and they have their own language and alphabet. Here, for example, is Azilal written with the Berber alphabet: ⴰⵣⵉⵍⴰⵍ.
