The moroccan Azilal rugs are unique and handmade according to the traditional weaving and knotting techniques practised by the Berber tribes for hundreds of years;

Our Azilal rugs are thick and very soft, knotted from untreated off-white lambs wool combined with colorful Berber symbols and abstract signs and patterns.
The rugs’ patterns and color choices depend on the individual woman’s artistic temperament and the expressions of the Azilal rugs varies from a simple mono colored pattern to veritable color explosions.
Our Azilal carpets are new and they are had-knotted by a small weaving cooperative of Berber women in the Atlas Mountains – and each carpet / rug is unique.

Untreated wool.
the women clean the raw lambs wool with natural soap and let it dry in the sun after washing – and then the wool is spun into weaving yarn. The gentle treatment preserves the wool’s high Lanolin content and makes the carpet very dirt-repellent and easy to maintain.

Maintenance.
The rug can be shaken, vacuumed, brushed and dry cleaned.
If the rug’s pile gets a little flat, you can make it fluffy again by brushing the pile carefully with a regular hair brush. Preferably a cheap plastic brush with a distance between the brushes.

If a stain appears on the carpet, place an absorbent pad (f.ex a towel) under the stain and move it around while rinsing with plenty of lukewarm water intil the stain is gone. Dab the area as dry as possible and let dry. When dry brush the area gently to regain the fluffy look.

Possibly stubborn stains can usually be removed with Vanish for rugs and furniture.

We recommend an anti-slip carpet underlayer for all our rugs and carpets.
