About Beni Ouarain rugs.

The Moroccan Beni Ouarain rugs are knotted by hand in pure, soft and untreated off-white wool by Berber women in the Atlas Mountains.
The off white wool is gently cleaned and washed with Marseille soap so that the wool's natural content of lanolin is preserved and thus making the Beni Ouarain rugs very dirt repellent.

The weight of the Beni Ouarain rugs is an indication of the quality of the rug and of the amount of wool used for the rug.
Furthermore it is important to weave and knot the rugs from high quality wool with long fibres.
Many so called Beni Ouarain rugs do not meet these standards, and it took us some time to find the right weaving cooperative that are now making our Beni Ouarain rugs.

Maintenance of Beni Ouarain rugs and carpets.
The Beni Ouarain rugs can be vacuumed and shaken (depending of size).
For a refresh of the fluffy look, the rug can be gently brushed with an ordinary hair-brush (best with a plastic-brush).
For stains use a lot of luke water. For very stubborn stains we have had success using Vanish for carpets and furniture that does not bleach.
Dry cleaning.
